Sculpturalities: Grammar(s) of Matter

Du 07.03.26
Au 07.06.26

Hybrid art sometimes dematerialises matter, transforming it into pleasure or reflection. Sculpture is undoubtedly the medium that explores this potential most deeply.
Atelier 34zero Muzeum invites you to discover the sensitive particularities of what constitutes our world.

The exhibition “Sculpturalities: Grammar(s) of Matter” proposes an in-depth reflection on the way matter—according to its nature and the way it is shaped—makes expression possible, or not. What plastic, aesthetic and conceptual logics govern the working of stone, wood or glass? Each material imposes its own gestures, constraints and possibilities: clay is not turned in the same way that bronze is cast. Can glass express the same things as ceramics? How does a universal notion such as fragility manifest itself in stone?

In its historical and conceptual trajectory, it is inevitable to address sculpture without confronting the ready-made and assemblage. What do these practices— which in some respects are media in themselves—reveal about their own nature? Does raw material always disappear within the idea of the artwork, or does it continue to carry meaning? Can we ultimately do without the object?

Ultimately, how does each material—beyond its plastic function—become a vehicle for thinking about form, about the artistic gesture, and more broadly about the very condition of art itself?
