Launch and signing event for the novel The Republic of Chromos by Alexandre Attanasio,

Artist Encounters

Saturday, June 6, 2026

The Atelier 34zero Muzeum is keen to introduce you to Belgian artists, but also to authors – especially when they are from Jette!

On Saturday, June 6th at 7:00 PM, the Atelier 34zero Muzeum invites you to the launch and signing event for the novel The Republic of Chromos by Alexandre Attanasio, published by Éditions Vérone.

“The Republic of Chromos” is a novel that follows in the tradition of Gothic literature and magical realism, reflecting the author’s major influences. The work is characterized by a blend of absurd humor and cynicism, offering a unique perspective on human nature, society, and the concept of the State. The latter is depicted as a “republican marquisate,” a metaphor highlighting the underlying social critique. Perceiving himself as a romantic of the shadows, the author weaves a tapestry where the fantastic meets satire, inviting the reader to deep reflection on power structures and their absurdities.

After studying classical literature, Alexandre Attanasio obtained a master’s degree in English and Russian. He then pursued a career as a visual artist, exhibiting his works in Europe, China, and the United States. He also produced fiction short films for alternative cinema halls before dedicating himself entirely to writing.

You will also have the opportunity to discover “A Story That Takes Place in 1925”, by Dino Attanasio and Alexandre Attanasio, a short story published in the collection “That Year”. This collection, published by Éditions Lamiroy, proposes stories set in the year of their author’s birth. Since Alexandre Attanasio’s birth year, 1958, had already been explored, this short story is co-written with his father, Dino Attanasio, an illustrious author of the golden age of Franco-Belgian comics.
